Une autre preuve dans tous ce que nous avons cité il y'a deux parties : une partie qui est permise à tuer : comme les escarbots, les puces, les punaises et les ... ; et une partie qui est interdite à tuer comme : les fourmis et les abeilles, ce qui est permit de tuer ne peut pas être égorgé, car tuer ce qui est permit à égorger est une perte d'argent ; et ce qui n'est pas permis de tuer il n'est pas permit de l'égorger.

Il nous a été narré par le biais de Acha'bi : « tous ce qui ne possède pas de sang qui coule il n'est pas permis de l'égorger pour le manger. »...

Question

What are some general principles related to Halal meat? Can we trust others' word on whether the meat is Halal?

Answer

In general, the jurists (fuqaha) mention that one can trust another’s word (Muslim or non-Muslim) that the meat has been properly Islamically slaughtered [Fatawa Hindiyya, Radd al-Muhtar].
However, when there is reason to be cautious, it is recommended to take the means to make sure that it is in fact Halal.
When there is ‘reasonable’ fear that this particular meat is possibly Haram--or when it is generally the case that meat labelled ‘Halal’ is dubious--then it would be one’s duty to make sure.

Assalaamu 'alaikum

That action is not allowed. Infact, it is an evil act. It is not allowed because one may not seek blessings through or from the dead or their graves. Nor is it allowed to supplicate to them instead of Allah. Nor can one ask them to fulfil a need or heal an ill person, and so forth. This is because acts of worship are the rights of Allah Alone. It is from Him that blessings are sought. He is described as being Blessed, as Allah says in Surah al-Furqan,
''Blessed be He who sent down the Criterion to His slave that he may be a warner to the worlds .” (Surah al-Furqan:1)

Also Allah says,

''Blessed be He in whose hand is the Dominion.” (Surah al-Mulk:1)

The meaning of that is that Allah is behooving of the greatest amount of veneration and blessing. As for the human, he is blessed if Allah guides him and makes his affairs good, and the others benefit from him. This is as Allah has stated about His servant and Messenger Eesa [Jesus] son of Maryam [Mary] (alaihis-salaam) '' He [`Eesaa] said: Verily I am a slave of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I be.” (Surah Maryam:30-31)

HFA is an organisation that is out of sync with the Muslim Community in England. Along with its dubious and obscure scholarly backing, it chooses to take a stance against the highly qualified scholars of the community, and wishes to promote a view about Islamic Slaughter that is rejected by the vast majority of them. They may make light of this, but since they are supposed to be representing the interests of the Muslims of this Land to ignore this point seems disingenuous.

Whereas the scholars are adamant that an individual slaughter-man must be directly holding the knife when slaughtering, according to this organisation it is enough to have a fixed blade, across which the chickens pass and have their throats slit. They also permit stunning of chickens. The problem with this is, having heard testimonies from slaughter-men themselves backing this, many chickens die before Dhabh even takes place, and secondly it has often been seen that the voltage is deliberately kept high, almost ensuring premature death. Another major flaw of the organisation is that it does not have grassroots support to ensure that even after certification (though we consider their certification itself to be deficient), dubious practices which are known to take place, do not take place.

The only thing of merit the organisation clings on to for its credibility is that it was the first such organisation of its kind in the country. However, any reasonable minded person will appreciate that this is no basis for reliability.

HMC on the other hand has worked at the grassroots, holding talks and seminars raising awareness amongst Muslims of the issues involved. They have the backing of scholars throughout the country and are keen to have their input, something I can personally vouch for. Their standards are strongly backed by evidences and also show a deep appreciation of the reality in the Meat market. We can clearly notice with HMC that theirs is not just another certification body that pulls in all and sundry, regardless of their disregard of the Shariah. This is shown in many aspects of their work, including for example the creation of voluntary LAGS (Local Area Groups). These enable the organisation to keep in close contact with what is happening on the ground in the slaughter houses and the many meat and poultry outlets.

It is for these reasons we, as do many scholars, endorse wholly the work of HMC, and wish that our brothers at HFA, seriously re-examine the real need for their existence, for the sake of the Muslim community in UK.

Allah's Messenger came out to his companions and recited Surah ar-Rahman (55) from the beginning to the end, but they remained silent. Thereupon he said: I recited this before the Jinn on the night of Jinn, and their response was better than that of yours. When I came to these words: `Then which of the favours of your Lord do you deny?' They said: Our Lord, there is nothing that we deny of Thy favour; to Thee is praise due.

The Noble Qur'an - Al-Jinn 72:1-14

Say (O Muhammad ): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Qur'ân). They said: 'Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Qur'ân)!

'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allâh).

'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children).

'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblîs (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allâh that which was wrong and not right.

'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allâh.

'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.

'And they thought as you thought, that Allâh will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns).

'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires.

'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush.

'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path.

'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.).

'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allâh in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight.

'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Qur'ân), we believed therein (Islâmic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins.

'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allâh, after listening to this Qur'ân), and of us some are Al-Qâsitûn (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islâm (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allâh), then such have sought the Right Path."

Answered: Is it allowed to abbreviate the term "swallallaahu 'alaihi wassallam" to "s" or "saaw" or "saw" or "pbuh", when writting the Prophet's name?

The Sunnah is that you write the phrase ‘sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam’ in its entirety.
This is because it is a duaa (supplication), and the duaa is an act of worship, just as if it were spoken out aloud.

To represent it symbolically using the letter saad or saad –laam – ‘ayn – meem is not a supplication nor is it an act of worship, regardless of whether it be a statement or a something written.

For this reason, this symbol was not utilized by the first three generations for whom the Prophet sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam bore witness with khayriyyah (goodness and excellence).

And with Allaah is the tawfeeq. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

Asalamu Alaikum,
Alhamdulillah, by Allah's (swt) Grace and Mercy I have recently begun practicing Islam, may Allah bless you for establishing a light on the Internet when there is so much darkness and evil present on it.
I am a little confused about what foods are haram/halal. What to do when 'people of the book' offer meat (besides pork) to us?

Also, I have heard that certain ingredients in food may be derived from animals, such as mono- and diglycerides, lecithin, gelatin, etc. Are these permissible to eat?

As well, I have heard certain chocolate bars have trace amounts of alcohol in them. But they are so small that there is no way of being even slightly intoxicated from them.

Please clarify these issues, Allah-willing.
